Right to Care From Wizz Air

If you have to wait at the airport because of a flight disruption, you have a right to care.

This rule covers all Wizz Air flight delays and cancellations, even those not caused by the airline (so-called extraordinary circumstances).

  • Wait of 3 hours: You have the right to a meal or two, plus emails or calls. These are typically provided as coupons usable at the airport.
  • Overnight wait: Wizz Air must offer a free hotel stay and free transfers to and from the airport.

If these services aren’t provided, pay for them yourself, keep the receipts, and later file a claim for the extra expenses due to the delay/cancellation.

What Are Your Rights If You Miss a Connecting Flight With Wizz Air?

What are your rights if flight is cancelled, and you miss the next one?

In 2024, Wizz Air does not sell connecting flights.

If you book multiple flights separately (this type of travel is called “self-transfer“), and you miss one because of a cancellation or delay in another, it’s your responsibility to book a new flight. Self-transfer flights are passenger’s responsibility. Because they are not provided by the airline.

This rule applies whether you’re flying Wizz Air alone or combining Wizz Air with other airlines like Ryanair or easyJet. No matter the airline, it’s considered your responsibility.

These types of flights are known as self-transfer flights. You might have seen this feature on Kiwi.com as one of their travel hacks.

Can You Refuse the Wizz Air Voucher if You Were Offered One Instead of Compensation?

Yes, you can refuse a Wizz Air voucher in certain circumstances.

If you’re entitled to flight delay/flight cancellation compensation, you have the right to receive the money directly in your bank account. You don’t have to accept Wizz Air vouchers or credit.

According to European flight compensation regulations, if you request a refund and are offered a voucher instead, you can refuse it and get a full cash refund. This applies if the airline cancels your flight or makes significant changes to your itinerary.

If you initially accept a voucher but later decide you prefer a cash refund, you can contact Wizz Air’s customer service to request it. Be aware, though, that any fees for processing the voucher might be deducted from your cash refund.

Sometimes, taking a voucher for flight cancellations can be beneficial. For instance, if the airline offers an extra 20% on top of your ticket value and you plan to fly with Wizz Air soon, it might make sense to accept the voucher.
