What to Do If Your EasyJet Flight Is Cancelled?

If your easyJet flight is cancelled, do this:

  1. Firstly, check your email for any messages from easyJet. There should be an email with information on the cancellation and details of your options. EasyJet typically provides alternatives such as rebooking on the next available flight or obtaining a full refund for your cancelled flight.
  2. Secondly, visit the easyJet website or use their app to choose a new flight or refund. Using the website or app is often faster than waiting in line or on hold.
  3. Thirdly, be aware of your rights under EU Regulation 261/2004, which may entitle you to easyJet flight cancellation compensation depending on the cause of the cancellation and the timing of notification. Keep in mind that if your flight is cancelled due to technical issues with the airplane, staffing issues or airline staff strikes, you may be entitled to compensation for the cancelled flight. Remember to file a claim right after your trip. Besides, you can claim compensation for past flights as well.
  4. If your flight gets cancelled while you’re at the airport, seek assistance from the airline as you are entitled to support. Not only you are entitled to a new flight (or full refund), but also for some other free services. Details below.

This rule applies to all easyJet flight delays and flight cancellations.

If you have to wait at the airport, you may have a right to care. This rule applies to all easyJet flight delays and cancellations, including issues beyond the airline’s control, known as extraordinary circumstances. Regardless of the cause, unless it’s your fault, you have these rights:

  • If you have to wait an extra 3 hours, you are entitled to a meal, and access to emails or calls, usually provided as vouchers.
  • If you have to wait overnight, easyJet must offer you a free hotel stay and free airport transfer to and from the hotel.

If you haven’t received these services, first contact easyJet to arrange them. If that doesn’t work, pay for these items yourself, keep the receipts, and file a claim for reimbursement later.
